A “let cord” is a shot where the pickleball hits the tape or the top of the pickleball net. A let cord shot is generally a difficult shot because the tape or pickleball net misdirects the pickleball.
Imagine a pickleball hits the top of the pickleball net and dribbles over to the other side and into the Non-Volley Zone or Kitchen. How do you “attack” this shot? Quickly react and step into the Non-Volley Zone or Kitchen, leading with your paddle. You will have to reach and get your paddle completely under the pickleball with an open paddle face. Tap the pickleball in a vertical trajectory over the middle part of the net, which is the lowest part of the net and the natural angle for the pickleball to travel. If you try to do too much—for instance, hit the pickleball with too much horizontal angle or a closed paddle face—you will probably hit the pickleball straight into the net. Keep it simple and tap the pickleball over the middle part of the net, which will likely be an unattackable shot for your opponents.
