Serving in the Wind
1m 39s
Be aware of your conditions, which include the wind conditions. All four players on the pickleball court will be dealing with the same conditions, so try to use the wind to your advantage and to your opponents’ disadvantage.
When serving, consider whether you should adjust your strategy or technique to account for the wind. For instance, do you need to hit the pickleball a little harder because you are hitting into the wind? Do you need to adjust your aim left or right to account for the wind? Should you avoid the lob serve and opt for the driving serve to reduce any effect the wind could have? Do you need to take a little pace off because the wind is behind you? Take the wind conditions into consideration when serving (and when making any other shot on the pickleball court).
Key Takeaways:
1. Take the wind conditions into consideration when serving. Consider:
a. Hitting your serves harder if you are serving into the wind;
b. Adjusting your aim left or right to account for any crosswinds;
c. Hitting more driving serves than lob serves; and
d. Taking some pace off of your serve or aiming shorter in the court if you have a strong wind at your back.
